Blue Whale: A Game or A Suicide

The Blue Whale game or The Blue Whale Challenge but we may call it The Suicide Game is basically a challenge which starts from basic tasks such as listening music of a particular genre or watching a horror movie and ends up making the person commit suicide. A certain curator or a group of administrators gives a participant task to complete daily and these tasks are given for the period of 50 days at the end of which it kills the participant.

A former psychology student, Philipp Budeikin, invented the game in Russia in 2013 started with F57, and the purpose was to push those people he seemed to have no value merely to clean the society. In May, 2017, Russian authorities arrested 21 year old Philipp following which on July 19th, he was sentenced to prison for three years and four months by a Russian court in Tobolsk, Siberia.

It was in the year 2016, when a journalist through his article made people know about the game which made teenagers more curious knowing about the suicide victims to the blue whale. More than 16 teenage girls committed suicide which made Russia to pass Russian suicide prevention legislation.

In India, press coverage first covered the news in Southern India, where a 16 year old boy from Kerala committed suicide.

Recently, on September 3rd, a student of class 11th from Damoh, Madhya Pradesh committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train.

Not only India, but suicides from all over the world were reported.

Though it is the responsibility of tech giants like Google, Facebook, but the government, instead of threatening should work upon some logical and achievable actions and everyone should look after the teenagers playing the game and make them stop instantly.
